Prem is the first Mount Everest Summiter from West Nepal. He born in a small remote village in northwest Nepal, from the age of eight Prem assumed responsibility for care of one of his family’s major assets, their flock of sheep, goats, and yak-cattle cross breeds. His rock-climbing skills grew quickly, and he learned to read the ever-changing high Himalayan climate and terrain. When he completed the 10th class of schooling his home area had just opened for outside visitors, and he joined a group that provided trekking services. Within two years he had become a registered guide leading small group treks of 2 to 4 weeks and a sirdar leading support teams for larger expeditions. Through this work he supported further education for himself and his siblings.
For the past 15 years he has specialized in designing, organizing, and leading trips to unusual Himalayan areas for mountaineering and cultural exploration. He also summited Mt. Everest in a rare single person expedition, managing and carrying all of his own gear on the mountain. Prem can organize and lead trips that exceed the expectations of the most seasoned and demanding Himalayan travelers.
